Get Results by Connecting with Your Vision

Dan Tasset | Get Results by Connecting with Your Vision

Of the five declarative statements that NueHealth incorporated into our business, the last one has the most “go forth” feel, and that’s one of the reasons it makes sense that it’s the final one. “We get results” means that we connect to a vision, mission and purpose, and engage with a passion for execution.

How do these concepts all tie together?

When you have a passion for execution, it shows in the organization. Accomplishments are celebrated and obstacles are approached as opportunities. As Vince Lombardi said, “I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” It’s that joy that comes from actually accomplishing something, getting something done. Our organization has that, and we celebrate those wins.

Having that passion is critical to a high performance organization. But it really starts with connecting to vision, mission, purpose. If I’m going to leave this location and drive to another location, I need to have a pretty clear path to get there. In other words, I need to know what the map looks like. Business is no different. You have to know where you want to go. Vision, for me, is determining what you want your organization to be. What do you want it to be in 10 years? What do you want it to do? That’s the vision. The next item, the mission, is the battle cry. In the day-to-day when you get up and you’ve got to charge the hill and things become tough, how you do things on any given day? Purpose, of course, is the why. Why are we doing all this? Why do have the vision we have? It starts with the reason you were created, or, on a business level, the reason the organization exists.

It’s one thing to execute – execution is necessary. Just make sure that as you’re executing and climbing the ladder, the ladder is leaning on the right wall so that you get to where you want to get. There’s a good quote by Dale Carnegie: “Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you get.” Vision, mission, and purpose start with that: knowing where you want to go and then having the passion for execution to get you there. It’s all about getting results.
